Minister of Higher Education: The project supports technical schools graduates.. It has started work last year
China's Ambassador to Cairo: The College is the first joint project between both countries in the technical education field.. Chinese companies are working to increase their investments in Egypt during the coming period.
Egypt and China signed a grant for the Egyptian Chinese College for Applied Technology at the Suez Canal. It has been signed by Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr, Ambassador of China to Cairo Ambassador Liao Liqiang, in the presence of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Head of the Asian Sector in the Ministry Ms. Mona Ahmed; and that is in the framework of promoting the strategic partnership between Egypt and China to maximize the benefits of Chinese grants to Egypt in many fields, the most important of which is vocational education field.
Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr stressed the importance of cooperation between both Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the framework of investing in human capital. She pointed out that this agreement is part of the great interest of Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to develop the technical and technological education system in order to prepare the Egyptian youth and provide them with all modern requirements to meet labor market needs.
The Minister also pointed out that relationship between Egypt and China is a strategic one and the coming period will witness more agreements between both countries; admitting that Egyptian Chinese College is a model of partnership between the two countries in the vocational education field. Faculty of Information Technology in Beijing, Misr Al-Khair Foundation and Suez Canal University participate in its foundation in order to develop and refine students' talents through the application of Chinese technology in the field of vocational and technological education.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar admitted that this college started work at Suez Canal University last year. This project supports technical schools graduates, pointing out that this agreement will include the supply of devices and equipment for laboratories. He also thanked the minister for her efforts in allocating these grant to the Ministry of Higher Education.
China's ambassador to Cairo Ambassador Liao Liqiang declared that this is the first agreement he signed since he held his position in Egypt. He pointed out that this is the first joint project between Egypt and China in the field of technical education; and that there is an agreement between both countries relating to technical education projects in the frame of linking with Belt and Road initiative.
He pointed out that cooperation in technical education field contributes to the preparation of more qualified youths in Egypt. he also said that many Chinese companies invest in Egypt and are interested in increasing investment in technical education, stressing that in the future there will be more agreements between Egypt and China in the technical education field.
It is worth mentioning that the total development cooperation projects between Egypt and China reached $ 1.6 billion in transport, housing, education, and higher education sectors while the volume of Chinese investments in Egypt is about $ 7 billion.
