GAFI CEO Visits AQUA BROWN in Dubai Industrial City to Explore Manufacturing Opportunities in Egypt
In line with the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), to strengthen economic and investment relations between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and to attract UAE-based brands and companies to invest in the Egyptian market, Dr. Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), conducted a field visit to the AQUA BROWN Food Industries L.L.C in Dubai Industrial City, on the sidelines of his participation in the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress 2026).
The visit forms part of GAFI’s efforts to target promising companies and brands and encourage them to establish Egypt as a regional hub for manufacturing, storage, and exports. During the visit, opportunities for AQUA BROWN to invest in the Egyptian market through establishing a manufacturing facility for its products were discussed, in light of the company’s diversified activities, which include the production of various types of coffee, as well as coffee-based and related products, in addition to the production of packaged beverages and related food products. This would enhance the company’s opportunities to expand in the local market and capitalize on Egypt’s competitive advantages to access and export to regional markets.
The visit included a meeting to follow up on discussions with the company’s officials, during which an overview was provided of Egypt’s investment regimes and available incentives, including investment, industrial, and free zones, as well as incentives supporting manufacturing, distribution, and export activities. The meeting also addressed the company’s plans to expand in the Egyptian market and establish Egypt as a regional hub for manufacturing, warehousing, and serving neighboring markets.
Dr. Mohamed Awad affirmed GAFI’s commitment to providing the company with all necessary support and coordinating with the relevant authorities to offer suitable options for industrial and logistics land in line with the project’s requirements. The discussions also covered the possibility of organizing field visits to the proposed zones and sites to assess their suitability for establishing the factory and distribution center.
The meeting also highlighted Egypt’s advantages as an investment and export destination, foremost among which are the large size of the domestic market, its strategic geographic location, and the availability of an extensive network of major transport corridors, roads, ports, and industrial and logistics zones. These advantages facilitate rapid access to local and regional markets, in addition to enabling investors to benefit from the free trade and preferential trade agreements linking Egypt with numerous markets, including the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA).
These efforts are consistent with GAFI’s strategy to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), maximize the benefits of Egypt’s competitive advantages, and position the country as a regional hub for manufacturing and exports, thereby supporting increased domestic production, deeper industrialization, and enhanced export capabilities.
