GAFI CEO Discusses Expansion Opportunities in the Egyptian Market and Export Growth with Singapore’s Tolaram Group
As part of the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade’s directives to attract further foreign investment, Dr. Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), met with a delegation from Singapore-based Tolaram Group, a food manufacturing company, headed by H.E. Dominic Goh, Singapore’s Ambassador to Egypt, to discuss the Group’s existing investments and opportunities to expand its production activities.
Dr. Awad outlined the available investment frameworks and their associated incentives and facilitation measures, stressing the importance of continued coordination with the Group to streamline expansion procedures and facilitate the implementation of new projects, thereby supporting industrial localization, boosting exports, and attracting foreign direct investment.
For his part, Vivek Aswani, the Group’s Executive Director of Strategy and Growth Partnerships, affirmed that Egypt offers promising investment opportunities, thanks to its strategic geographic location and economic reforms that enhance the attractiveness of its business environment. He noted that the Group is considering expanding its presence in the Egyptian market and introducing a new production line to increase production capacity and strengthen its footprint in Egypt.
The two sides discussed opportunities to expand food manufacturing, add new production lines and products, and leverage Egypt’s industrial and logistics infrastructure and trade agreements to boost exports to regional markets, particularly African markets. These efforts would draw on the Group’s industrial expertise and international distribution networks, with Singapore serving as its headquarters.
