
GAFI CEO Chairs 95th Meeting of the Media Public Free Zone’s Board of Directors at EMPC
In line with the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), to create an attractive investment environment and support the expansion of investment activities, Dr. Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Free Zone at the Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC), chaired the 95th meeting of the Zone’s Board of Directors. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Media Public Free Zone at EMPC in 6th of October City, in the presence of Mr. Yasser Abbas, GAFI Deputy CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Media Public Free Zone at EMPC, as well as members of the Zone’s Board of Directors.
The meeting addressed a number of issues and requests submitted by companies operating in the Zone, foremost among them applications to establish new projects and requests to add new activities to existing projects. The meeting also reviewed a number of matters related to the cancellation, liquidation, and termination of certain projects, in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of keeping pace with the rapid developments taking place in the media and technology sectors by updating and expanding the activities permitted within the Media Public Free Zone. This would enable the Zone to accommodate new media and production activities, enhance its ability to attract further domestic and foreign investment, and strengthen the competitiveness of the sector and the national economy.
GAFI CEO also directed that companies’ applications be carefully reviewed in light of the rapid developments in the media industry, in a manner that supports the expansion of existing projects and creates new investment opportunities, while ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations governing operations in free zones.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Media Public Free Zone’s Board of Directors at EMPC approved the incorporation of three new companies operating in the production sector, contributing to enhanced investment activity in the Zone and supporting the growth of the media production industry. The Board also discussed a proposal to add new activities to the list of activities permitted within the Public Free Zone.
