On the Sidelines of Cairo ICT 2026, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Announces Pilot Launch of Self-Service Kiosks for Investor Services
Dr. Mohamed Awad, the Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones:
Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), announced the pilot launch of self-service kiosks for investor services, which let investors obtain a number of documents and services on their own through simple electronic steps, with no human intervention. He made the announcement while taking part in Cairo International Exhibition Conference 2026 (ICT).
Dr. Mohamed Awad, the Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI CEO), explained that the kiosks can issue documents investors need — including a true copy of the company’s articles of incorporation, certificate of incorporation and the sole proprietorship formation letter — around the clock. That gives investors more flexibility and frees them from the traditional hours and locations of service offices.
The kiosks do more than issue and print documents. They rely on an integrated electronic system that verifies an investor’s identity before any service is provided. The Egyptian citizens are verified with their national ID card, and foreign investors with their passports, in an electronic, automated process that reads and verifies the passport data and matches the identity document against biometric verification technology, including face recognition.
Awad added that GAFI aims to roll out the kiosks gradually at Investor Service Centers (ISCs) and other investment-related agencies, giving investors more than one way to collect their documents: at the nearest of 15 ISCs across the country, or at a kiosk.
The ISCs handle an average of about 5,200 transactions a month that will also be available through the kiosks. That is 23% of all ISC transactions, a sign of how much time and effort the new units will save.
The electronic verification system also allows additional checks to be run with the relevant authorities, adding to the reliability and security of services provided to investors.
Awad noted that GAFI is working in parallel to add new channels for receiving documents. It is preparing to launch a delivery service for investors’ documents with Egypt Post under a cooperation protocol between the two sides, letting investors request delivery to an address of their choosing without visiting an ISC, with same-business-day delivery. He affirmed that GAFI’s digital transformation plan will continue, aiming to reach the best international standards for the time and the number of procedures required to deliver the services to the investor.
