Dr. Mohamed Awad:

• Enhancing the promotional role of investor services centers and continuously developing human capital

As part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s efforts to promote investment across different regions of the country and provide an attractive business environment, Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, MIFT Minister, conducted an inspection tour of the Investor Services Center (ISC) in Gamasa, Dakahlia Governorate, to follow up on the implementation of the Ministry’s decisions to facilitate procedures for investors. Dr. Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI CEO), was present during the tour.
Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh stressed the importance of ensuring that investors and their representatives are fully informed of the new services provided by the Ministry and its digital transformation efforts. He also called for the preparation of updated reports on domestic and foreign investment data to provide a comprehensive view of investment flows across governorates and their economic and development impact.
Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh and Dr. Mohamed Awad also met with a number of representatives of the business community in Dakahlia Governorate, affirming the Ministry’s openness to their proposals for further improving the governorate’s business environment. They highlighted the governorate’s significant potential, including its strategic location near major ports, abundant labor force, and strong industrial base with considerable potential for further development.
Dr. Mohamed Awad emphasized the promotional and awareness-raising role of staff at the ISC, noting that GAFI’s ongoing digital transformation programme has helped reduce the time and effort required to complete procedures, while also reducing the number of documents required from investors. This has created greater scope for ISCs to strengthen their promotional role. He further affirmed GAFI’s continued efforts to enhance human capital capabilities in line with technological developments, as well as to train and prepare staff to contribute to attracting new investments, resolving investors’ challenges, and putting forward proposals to improve the investment environment.
The ISC in Gamasa incorporated 1,524 companies in 2025 and currently provides services to approximately 12,500 companies in Dakahlia, Damietta, and Kafr El-Sheikh Governorates. In addition to company incorporation and licensing services, the ISC provides technical and legal services during the post-incorporation phase and throughout the company life cycle.
The ISC also hosts permanent representatives of the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA), the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), the ETA’s Value Added Tax Unit, the National Organization for Social Insurance (NOSI), the Egyptian Bar Association, the Chambers of Commerce, and other entities concerned with investment affairs.
